The traditional Swedish horse - quality craftsmanship with tradition!
It was during long winter evenings in front of a log fire that the forerunner of the Dalecarlian horse was born. The Dalecarlian horse used to be a toy for children and the fact that it was a horse that was carved is natural since the animal was an invaluable help for farmers.
The Dalecarlian horse of today is made by pine and the hand-made pattern is about 150 years old and reflects a style of painting known as Kurbits. It is a special technique still used today with two colors in the same brush. It is a unique handicraft. At least 9 different persons have contributed with their skill to create each horse!
The Dalecarlian horse comes from the villages around Mora. Today they are only made in Nusnäs. Grannas was founded in 1922 and is today the oldest Dalecarlian horse manufacturer.
