ED-element
An ED element is used for improved colour correction, which in turn results in even better sharpness and contrast.
Applications
TS Optics 2” ED barlow is ideal both for visual and photographic applications. The large clear apterture of 37mm offers an illuminated field large enough even for long focal length 2" eyepieces. The barlow element can be unscrewed and mounted directly in the filter thread of your eyepiece or camera adaptor. This offers a more moderate magnification than the original 2x.
Visual use
If you mount the Barlow between the telescope and the eyepiece you double the magnification. At the same time the eye relief of the eyepiece is not changed, so you can use the long eye relief that most long focal length eyepieces have.
You can also unscrew the lens element and screw it directly into the filter thread of the eyepiece. In this case you get a magnification of about 1.5x.
Imaging
You can screw the barlow element directly into the 2" T-adaptor for your camera. Depending on the camera's back focus you get a magnification of 1.5x-2x.
”Glass Path Corrector”
Binoviewers need a rather long back focus which most telescopes do not have. With this barlow lens you can move the focus plane of the telescope further out to eliminate this problem in many cases. The effective magnification is 2.6x with most binoviewers.
