Today there are just over 70 Sami drums surviving from the period when the original Sami religion was still a part of everyday life. The drums are now museum pieces. Christianity has replaced the original Sámi religion. Nevertheless, the holy power of the drums has in no way been lost. Even now we approach them with great respect. This book is mainly about the drums and religion of the Sami.
