General information about bosals
Bosals are flexible and should be shaped to fit the horse’s nose. When properly fitted, they are very comfortable and accepted by most horses. The considerable weight of the bosal affects the response you receive from the horse.
The bosal works through pressure points around the nose and is easy for the horse to understand—provided the rider has a sensitive and light hand. A heavy and insensitive hand quickly negates the effect of a bosal, resulting in the horse not responding at all. It’s easy to use—you guide the horse with leading rein pressure; the right hand steers the horse to the left and vice versa.
