The mecate is braided from soft wool, which gives it a softer feel than traditional horsehair.
Mecates are common in California vaquero culture and are used for both natural hackamores and bridles. The natural weight and material of the mecate enhance communication between horse and rider during neck reining. Dark brown / white / black.
